What an interesting experience this has been, healing from major surgery. I am getting better each day, but it is a slow process. Surgery was a little over a month ago and at times it seems like that was ages ago and some days it feels like it was just last week.
I had my first outing on Monday afternoon, going to the Region 5 boys basketball game to cheer on my great-nephew John and the Warriors. It was good to get out. But after 2 hours sitting in the bleachers, it took a toll on me. I was tired when I got home and in pain and Tuesday was tough.
I am off the heavy-duty pain killers. I take extra strength Tylenol if needed, but I have even cut down on that too. I have been doing small tasks around my house but taking it easy for the most part. Some nights are awful, I can't get comfortable, and sleep is tough. Then I have nights where I get almost 8 hours of sleep. It is kind of hit or miss right now.
My appetite has improved, and I have even cooked for myself. I was eating a lot of heat and eat type meals or getting things like chicken and mashed potatoes delivered to me. But now I got another grocery delivery (very handy) and will make myself more healthy meals this week.
I am still being really careful as far as lifting goes. I really don't want to rip something internal and be back in the hospital. My scar is healing nicely, except for a few spots where the cats tried to knead me. LOL. I know they missed me and want to snuggle with me.
Next week I will resume chemotherapy treatments for a while. I will have a full day starting with labs, oncology, cardiology, nutrition, cancer research and infusion. I better remember to pack lots of snacks.
Thank you everyone for all the texts, messages, gifts, cards, flowers, calls and support. It means a lot to me.
