Mascara! Shampoo! I missed you.

Six months ago my cancer returned, I started chemotherapy and the side effects started again. I lost all my hair on my head, hair that had come back really curly and silver. My eyelashes and eyebrows and all the hair on my body, all gone.

Showering was quick, but drawing on eyebrows took time. I have gotten pretty good at fake eyelashes. I have worn them quite a bit, and I am getting faster at it. No need to shave my legs or my underarms either.

But now it is time, in my world, for a little celebration. I shaved my legs last weekend, first time since October. And yup, out of practice, I nicked my leg. LOL.

My eyebrows are coming in. My eyelashes are coming in. My hair is growing! There is a lot of silver and some white too. It is good timing too, since I am getting tired of wearing scarves and wigs.

To celebrate I bought some expensive shampoo and a brand new tube of mascara. I will be batting my eyelashes soon.

I am still taking my Zejula nightly, I get Avastin every three weeks. Still getting my bloodwork checked every 3 weeks to see what damage the meds are doing while keeping my cancer from growing. But I am celebrating the good stuff too.

Some may take washing their hair, applying mascara or even shaving their legs for granted. Some may hate having to do it. Not me, I am happy to be doing it again. I like looking and feeling feminine again. I will NOT be called a man in the grocery store again. ( that story for another blog)

Celebrate the small stuff, because sometimes...it is really big!
