Last Big Chemo!

Yesterday was my last big chemo. I even put on make-up for the occasion, I even put mascara on my 14 eyelashes. Hopefully it will be the last time I sit in the recliner for 8+ hours getting drugged or poisoned like I like to say.

My oncology nurses "aka" drug pushers, were wonderful as always. We had good laughs, as a new one was being trained yesterday. Leah was trying to attach the first chemo drug and wasn't sure which connection to use. I held up the end she needed to connect it to, Justine -her trainer, said Dolly knows...she has been here a lot. We had to laugh at that.

Due to covid we still had to have our curtains pulled. But I had mine open about a foot so I could see nurses and they could see me better. There were lots of natives getting treatment. The girl across from me, Cynthia, was getting her first treatment, it was not going good. Poor thing got sick right away. Then she was able to sleep the rest of her treatment. She got done about 15 minutes before me. I met her and her man by the elevators as we were leaving. I shared lots of quick info with them....get a zippered binder, fill it note paper, pocket pages, pens, highlighters and a calendar to keep track of everything. Told her about Kombucha ginger ade and be sure to communicate with her doctor about anything and everything. They thanked me.

I keep wishing I would win the lottery so I could start a Cancer Coaching business. Sharing information with other cancer patients the things that I wish I would have known, also what works for me when it comes to nausea. I would have 'battle binders' like what I carry to give to all newly diagnosed cancer patients. I would give printouts of fruits and vegetables with the measurements underneath so patients could see what the size of their tumor was and would be able to see the shrinking as treatment goes on. I would also give out fleece tie blankets and a tote bag to carry the binder, snacks, lunch and magazines to each treatment. So I really need to win the lottery.

When the IV tree started beeping that I was done with my bag of fluid that follows my last drug I told Leah I needed my Heparin and I could go. We laughed that I know the routine. I am thankful for all of my medical team. So glad I have a great team. I will be back with them in 3 weeks for my dose of Avastin..it should only take about an hour. I won't need to haul all my usual "chemo day supplies".

Thank you everyone for all your prayers and words of encouragement and support. It means a lot to me. I thank God for all the blessings and lessons and for forgiving me my screwups. I thank him for all my family and friends. I thank God for allowing me to show others that you can live a fulfilling life with cancer.
