As 2022 comes to an end tonight I look back at the year I survived and I look ahead to a new year.
In December of 2021, I had a PET scan that showed the cancer was back in a big way. I started out 2022 by making my deductible and out-of-pocket medical limit in the first week of January. I had major surgery, at the beginning of February, in Fargo, and spent a week in the hospital, and 3 months at home recovering. I had a short stay in the Bismarck hospital for complications during recovery,
I spent the spring and summer, suffering new side effects of a new chemo drug. I did my own research and found that sun and heat were bad for me while on the drug. I had a few ER visits during the summer and fall for pain in the abdomen. In October I had an ambulance ride to Fargo for a bowel obstruction. After a week in the hospital, I came home. I also had 2 biopsies, the latest one yesterday, on a node in the thyroid that is being difficult.
Jump to today. A PET scan that I had a couple of weeks ago once again shows cancer is back in 4 spots. So it seems like I could be starting a repeat of 2022. So I have made some goals for the new year.
For 2023......I am going to LIVE! I am not talking about just beating cancer again and living, but LIVE.
I am going to finish the 6 novels I have started and read the other 14 novels I bought
I am going to continue to make fun memories with my cancer survivor art family.
I hope to have an adventure with my niece Becca somewhere on a beach.
I want to take a class, maybe aerial yoga, and learn something new.
I want to go to that Spa in Deadwood and have a relaxing weekend.
I want to take advantage of our local Spas, and get facials and massages on a regular basis.
I want to create a huge floral hat and wear it to a bar to watch the Kentucky Derby.
I want to float the Lazy River and not care that my huge scars show.
I hope to have no hospital stays this year!
I am going to beat cancer again!!!
