Ask any person who has been through chemotherapy or who is battling an illness, how they handle it. For me, I take it one day at a time.
It is important to enjoy the days when you are feeling good. It will be a good memory when the hard moments creep in. I try to focus on the positives, the good things. Yes, my neuropathy is back already, however, I am not sick to my stomach. So, I take the good with the bad.
Friends and family have reached out, offering all kinds of support, which is greatly appreciated. Everything from little notes and unexpected gifts, to offers of errands I may need help with. Plus just checking in daily to see how I am feeling is wonderful. I can be feeling down and I hear the chime of a text message, a friend checking in, it raises my spirits.
Some friends have said, " I don't know what to say", when they heard my cancer was back. Just ask how I am doing. Ask if I need anything. Just say "Cancer sucks!". Simple, believe me, it helps.
Take time to enjoy the little things...those can be the biggest things in life! Enjoy your day!
Thank you for teaching us!
