So today is the first of a stretch of cold days and colder nights. We have been spoiled this winter with really nice weather, basically no snow, it doesn't seem like winter.
This morning was a wake up call. I got in my car in the garage at 5:30am for work. My garage is not heated. The temperature on my screen said 34*. I backed out of the garage and drove 2 blocks....the temp dropped to 10*...I continued 2 more blocks and it said 4*. I have no idea what the windchill was.
Tomorrow I am going to fill up with gas. I have half a tank, but my dad always told me to keep my tank closer to full on really cold, winter days. He would even give me a bottle of Heet to dump in the gas tank.
I have blankets, mittens, snacks, and a first aid kit in my car. I don't have a shovel in there, but if we start to get some snow I will put a shovel in.
The cold really messes with me. Thanks to chemo, I seem to be cold all the time now. And having no hair!! I have a fleece stocking cap on...in my house...because my head is cold. When I am home, I am always under a blanket and at least one cat. I keep my house at 70*. I wear sweats, fuzzy socks and I can still be cold. My hands are like ice.
A few years ago I found a great thing. FLEECE SHEETS! Yup...sheets that are fleece. They are nice and warm and cozy. I save them for times like this. I swap out the flannels and put on the fleece. The cats love them too.
Now if I could only find flannel lingerie. Not a nightshirt, no...I want flannel undies and a flannel bra! Boy I would be comfy and warmer. You may laugh, but my female friends are thinking and wishing for a set.
This weekend is going to be brutal. I have to work Saturday and Sunday at 6am and I have chemo on Monday with labs at 7am. It is going to be ugly going out into the cold. Thank goodness for heated car seats!
But on a positive note....has anyone seen any mosquitoes?? Stay warm my friends!
